Marriage
In 19th century St Petersburg, chronically indecisive Podkolyosin engages a marriage-broker to find him a wife. She alights on young Agatha Tikhonova, living with an aunt and seeking a husband. A string of suitors follows, each more grotesque than the last. Director Marie Henderson’s free adaptation of Gogol’s satire adds a modern twist to what equates to speed-dating in Imperial Russia.
